Death Certificate – Embassy Legalization for Arab Countries

Authenticate a U.S. Death Certificate for Use Abroad

The Arab American Chamber of Commerce (AACC)®, based in Washington D.C., offers fast, accurate, and secure embassy legalization services for U.S.-issued death certificates. If you're handling estate matters, insurance claims, repatriation, or transferring family rights abroad, your death certificate must be properly authenticated and legalized for it to be accepted in Arab countries.

We simplify this multi-step process to ensure your documents are accepted without delays or rejections by foreign embassies, consulates, and legal authorities.

When Is a Death Certificate Legalization Required?

A death certificate must be legalized when it is being used abroad for:

  • Inheritance and estate settlements

  • Transferring bank accounts or property rights

  • Government or court procedures

  • Repatriation of remains

  • Religious, civil, or family record registration

Most Arab countries do not accept U.S. documents without official authentication and embassy legalization.

What Type of Death Certificate Is Accepted?

You must submit a certified copy of the death certificate issued by the state’s Department of Health or Vital Records Office. Photocopies or short-form versions are not acceptable for legalization purposes.

Legalization Process for U.S. Death Certificates

We handle the complete legalization process for your document:

  1. Certified State Copy
Start with a certified death certificate issued by the appropriate state office.

  2. Secretary of State Certification
We ensure your document is authenticated by the Secretary of State in the issuing state.

  3. U.S. Department of State Authentication
We submit the document to the U.S. Department of State in Washington D.C. (standard processing time: 9 business days).

  4. Embassy Legalization
We submit your authenticated document to the embassy of the destination Arab country in Washington D.C. for final legalization.

💡 Standard processing saves you $20 per document. Expedited options are available.
📦 Your documents will be returned with all required seals and embassy stamps.
